Novak’s talk, The Effect of Respect: Fostering Wellbeing in Uncertain Times , revealed why respect is essential for healthy organizations and offered actionable strategies for building positive workplace cultures that foster wellbeing.

The Novak Leadership Speaker Series invites renowned experts from a variety of fields to the MU campus to share innovative ideas, best practices, and research to help build better leaders.
MU Extension & Engagement Week brings together all four universities in the UM System, MU Extension, MU Health, and statewide partners, stakeholders, state agency leaders and legislators – all working together to learn, brainstorm and create a plan for improving the health, well-being and health outcomes for people in the state of Missouri.
The Novak Leadership Institute was launched in 2017 with a generous gift to Mizzou from the Novak Family and the Lift a Life Foundation. Located at the Missouri School of Journalism, the Institute features an innovative approach to leadership education uniquely rooted in the principles of strategic communication. Our courses educate students and professionals in the areas of personal leadership, team leadership, organizational communication, and entrepreneurial leadership. Our programs connect students with some of the world’s top organizations for experiential learning, professional mentoring, industry trips, service projects, and networking. The Institute features research, conferences, lectures, seminars, and workshops for both student and professional audiences. Our mission is to prepare lifelong leaders to make a positive and meaningful impact in their organizations and communities.
