Biography
Ron Kelley is the executive director of the Student Development, Diversity and Inclusion Program at the Missouri School of Journalism. Kelley’s background is in broadcast journalism and higher education advancement. He previously served in the roles of assistant news director at KOMU-TV and assistant vice chancellor for Advancement at Mizzou.
In his role as affiliate faculty for the Novak Leadership Institute, Kelley teaches the Chancellor’s Leadership Class, a course where first-year students gain skills for their leadership journeys while learning about themselves and the University of Missouri campus. Kelley believes leadership education is important for students because it helps them understand team dynamics, build self-confidence, and learn how to set and achieve goals by learning how to work with people and lead them.
In his own words: “I love the students and their enthusiasm. The discussions around our topics of leadership are dynamic and bright. Many of the students already get the concept of leadership, so it’s fun to continue develop their leadership skills.”
