Sarah Reesman, J.D., is the Director of Public Interest and JD Advantage Careers at the School of Law. She received the 2001 Barbara S. Uehling Award and has been recognized in the Columbia Business Times as one of Columbia’s Top 40 business leaders under the age of 40.

Reesman believes leadership education is important because organizations need leadership contributions from members at all levels to be successful. 

In her own words: “To become effective leaders, students first need a strong sense of self (self-awareness) as well effective listening and perceptive skills. They then can utilize both instinctive and learned leadership tools to achieve more both personally and in cultivating growth in others. Exposing students to successful leaders and their models would start this development. A collaborative group environment with guided class discussion can then support each student's efforts to cultivate their own leadership style and philosophy.”
