Evan White is a Student Support Specialist for the Discovery Center, Transfer Center, Office of First-Generation Student Initiatives, and the Student Success Center at the University of Missouri. White's responsibilities include supporting positive student outcomes and supervising student employees in these offices. White earned his Bachelor of General Studies and a graduate certificate in Higher Education Administration from MU.

One thing that excites White about classes like those that the Novak Institute offer, is to engage with students to understand their views on leadership and how we can work together in class to become more confident leaders in the current and future spaces they are part of.

In his own words: "It's important that we teach students that there is no singular way to lead others and it manifests itself in a variety of different ways. From teaching to mentoring to supervising, there's a level of trust at the core of those relationships but they all resemble being a leader. Leadership to me means that people trust you to give them guidance and support to be the best version of themselves in what they do. I think it's also important that students understand who they are as individuals first to determine what kind of leaders they want to be."
