Dave Matter, is the Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communication at the University of Missouri Athletics department. Matter, a Mizzou alum and St. Louis native, came to the department after more than two decades on the Tigers' beat for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Columbia Daily Tribune. As a member of Mizzou's Senior Leadership Team, Matter oversees the department's Creative staff and Strategic Communications staff and has a multi-faceted role in the department's expansion of storytelling and communications efforts across all platforms, while serving as the department's spokesperson. Matter is the primary sport administrator for the gymnastics program, manages the department's Freedom of Information Act requests and hosts a weekly podcast, "Mizzou Storytellers", on the Inside Mizzou Athletics podcast network. 

Matter's philosophy on leadership and his work and life experiences make for such a natural and compelling opportunity to teach. Anyone interested in leadership can take away valuable insight from his career and his teachings. This curriculum is applicable in countless ways when it comes to becoming a better leader.

In his own words: "Whether they're involved in athletics or campus organizations, students will have leadership opportunities during their college years - and hopefully well beyond their years on campus. This education can position students to learn more about themselves and their potential as leaders and then provide easily digestible practices on how to become great leaders in their careers."
