The annual Athlete Leadership University at Mizzou, hosted in partnership by Special Olympics Missouri and the Novak Leadership Institute, equips Special Olympics student-athletes with life skills and leadership training to help them make an impact in their communities. Participants spend a weekend at Mizzou getting a true college experience as they take courses in MU J-School classrooms, participate in a sports night with MU student-athletes, tour the campus, and even complete a Tiger Walk through the columns followed by Tiger Stripe ice cream. Novak Leadership students and faculty assist Special Olympics Missouri staff and mentors in executing the weekends’ activities and courses.
